This past week, our middle school students showcased their learning for our district academic leadership team.

Last week was a busy week for students with middle schoolers taking the iLearn Checkpoint 2 and high school students practicing for the SAT.

I was so excited to welcome students back into the building for Semester 2!

FAFSA Workshop THIS WEDNESDAY, December 11, at 6:30pm in the NWMHS Seminar

Commissioner for High Education “While cost remains a high barrier for many Hoosiers looking
to pursue education and training after high school, Indiana has opportunities to alleviate those
challenges and make higher education accessible.” (Dec. 9 Press Release from Indiana
Commission for Higher Education.)

This week is a very busy week at New Washington Middle High School! Our Student Council is
promoting a drug free lifestyle through Red Ribbon Week with Dress Up days and daily
information shared on the announcements. Seniors are encouraged to go on a college visit or
job shadow experience on Wednesday. Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors will be taking the
PSAT. The Health Services Academy is hosting a blood drive. Our students continue to shine
both in and out of the classroom.

Fall break is over and students are back in the classroom learning! It has been a joy to witness
their participation in classroom discussions and engagement in the lessons. Freshman students
are analyzing their YouScience results to help them decide career paths they may one day
pursue based on their interests and strengths. Business students are running the snack shop
and analyzing how communication skills contribute to sales and marketing. They also tie this
back to their own money spending habits. Yearbook students were excited to show me the
layouts they are working on for this year’s edition. Students in math were demonstrating how to
solve equations to other students, and in English class, they are preparing to read some spooky
stories by Edgar Allen P

We had a great week last week which included a visit from Senator Garten, Constitution Day
activities, and the Wheelchair Basketball Assembly! Thanks to the Greater Clark Education
Foundation, the Greater North Clark Health Foundation, and the Duke Energy Foundation for
bringing the Wheelchair Assembly to our school. Our students were engaged in learning about
the power of positivity

Last week, students were engaged in learning. From doing a scavenger hunt in math class to
learning how soil is utilized to be efficient with crops, students were actively working to learn the
standards and objectives of the lessons. There are three weeks left in Quarter 1. Please
monitor your student’s grades in PowerSchool and direct questions to teachers.

FALL FESTIVAL is September 28! Due to the length of the live auction last year, it has been
decided that only high school’s class projects will be included in it. Rather than putting together
baskets for the live auction, we will be having a raffle to contribute to this fundraiser. If you
would like to contribute, please send your donation of a gift card to the school by
September 20. We will be assembling these gift cards to raffle off at the event. Thank you for
your support!
